Bringing GEOSS services into practice

This workshops aims at teaching participants how to install, configure and deploy a set of open source software that allows them to publish and share their data and metadata through the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS) using OGC web services & ISO standards. The workshop will cover interoperability, hands-on experience with web portals, information access, open source software and data sharing through web services and GEOSS registries.

Deadline for registration is April 16th 2010. The registration page will be opened soon. Registration is free of charge and open to technical experts and institutions in the Black Sea area that could benefit from an implementation of GEOSS. The workshop will be held in English.

6th European Sustainable Cities & Towns Conference - Delivering Sustainable Cities – The Local leadership Challenge

After the successful conferences of Aalborg 1994, Lisbon 1996, Hannover 2000, Aalborg 2004 and Sevilla 2007, more than 1000 local government leaders as well as representatives of local government networks, European institutions and NGOs are expected to take part in the largest European conference dedicated to local sustainable development.

The conference is jointly organised by the Metropolitan Council of Dunkerque and the ESCT Campaign partners, who bring together the experience of several European local government networks and cites.

The Congress Energy and the Environment 2010, the 22nd in the series, will be held from October 18 to October 22, 2010 in Opatija, Croatia. The first part of the Congress is the Energy and Climate Conference and the second part of the Congress is the Symposium Heat Transfer in Components and Systems for Sustainable Energy Technologies (Heat-SET), the 3rd in series.

The Energy and Climate 2010 Conference will address the following broad topics: Engineering solutions for climate change mitigation; European Union regulations in the field of energy and environmental engineering as well as their application and tasks awaiting Croatia; International and national incentives for low-carbon future; Innovation and technology of renewable energy sources (hydropower, solar energy, wind energy, energy from biomass and wastes) as well as their contribution to sustainable development; Obstacles to the introduction of environmentally friendly technologies; Energy efficiency and cogeneration in industry and buildings.

For the HEAT-Set 2010 Symposium, academic and industrial contributions on heat transfer and energy management in components and systems for the energy conversion and usage in all industrial sectors are considered. Papers dealing with technology development or thermal management of systems are particularly welcome. The symposium will offer opportunities to present demonstration operations and case studies. The topics are as follows: Heat transfer in the process, refrigeration and transport industries; Heat transfer for building and residential applications; Heat transfer in advanced energy technologies.
